ERP Program :Sales Force - Oracle Integration

Abhi Chaturvedi

I was the program manager for Sales Force and Oracle cloud integration ERP program. My responsibilities included management of significant investment allocation within a broader program, with end to end accountability for budgets, schedules, risks, issues, governance, and vendor management.

The program involved implementation of Oracle Financials, Project Financials, Fusion, Human Resources, Human Capital Management, BI reporting modules across Oracle and Salesforce cloud.

The internal team was stretched and performing BAU and project activities simultaneously. None of the resources had a plan to work to and no‐one knew what the other was doing. Whilst, there was a list of activities with no dependencies identified or any logical order of tasks, the documentation was far from adequate to manage the project.

The solution

I formed cross functional self-managed, six autonomous teams comprising of technical, functional consultants and assigned them to each domain of the Oracle module.I participated in gap analysis, and mapping of cloud offerings and in consultation with the team established enhancement and defect resolutions for applications and systems in production and reported on the effectiveness to the fortnightly steering committee.

From a budget tracking perspective, agile earn value analysis were used by comparing the actual story points accomplished against the planned value proposition.

The next activity was to demonstrate the benefits of agile processes.I lifted engagement and communication across senior stakeholders by facilitating daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, release planning, user story workshops, demos, sprint planning with the team and the product owners.

I further coached the team to model core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability and visibility using Jira and Confluence.

Outcomes

The amalgamation of coaching and collaboration led to synergies across business and self-organizing teams. The concept of continuous exploration, development and deployment was practised by the team leading to value been delivered over the course of time.
